| The government of the Republic of Croatia defined locations for several new golf
courses in Istria. So you can keep your handicap down while
the value of your property increases! |

In 1999 the government of the Republic of Croatia defined locations for 23 golf
courses in Croatia and of them 14 are in Istria. Of those 14, 7 are located in the
Umag/Savudrija area. The development of golf is part of a strategy for the long-term development of
sustainable tourism in Croatia.
The Croatian government has laws in place to protect the coast and the number of new buildings near the sea will be limited. As a result it is expected to become increasingly difficult to get planning permission for property near the coast.
Property by the coast in nearby Slovenia, less than 20km away, is over twice as expensive per square meter.
In 2003 Croatia submitted an application for EU membership and is expected to join in 2007.
Watch the value of your EU property rise as others discover too late that it will
be within 15km of several golf courses!
Other good reasons to buy are:
- Croatia is a safe country
- clean sea, there are several blue flag beaches in Istria
- nice climate
- low cost-of-living
- daily flights all year round
to nearby airports with low cost airlines
Istria is very accessible:
Ryanair have daily flights 7 days per week from London to Trieste (1 hours drive from Istria), Venice (2.5 hours) and Klagenfurt (3 hours).
EasyJet have daily flights 7 days per week from London to Ljubljana (1.5 hours) and Venice.
During the summer Aer Lingus fly directly from Dublin to Venice, 4 days per week.
